Wow! The Broker is three issues old. Our news roundup is powered by our Partners and their moves in the market. Here are the latest updates from our Partners.

Signature News from McAfee

You’ve probably heard of the popular video conferencing platform, Zoom. This platform enables its millions of users in various locations to virtually meet face to face. In an effort to enhance user experience and work around changes in Safari 12, Zoom installed a web server that allows users to enjoy one-click-to-join meetings. Unfortunately, a security researcher recently disclosed that this product feature acts as a flaw that could allow cybercriminals to activate a Mac user’s webcam without their permission.

Simulating the Universe with Nvidia

Working in collaboration with researchers from UC Berkeley, the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe in Japan, University of British Columbia, and Carnegie Mellon University, the team developed a model called Deep Density Displacement Model (D3M). The tool accurately simulated how the universe looked and how it would look if certain parameters were tweaked.

Using an NVIDIA V100 GPU, with the cuDNN-accelerated PyTorch deep learning framework, the team first trained a deep neural network by feeding it 8,000 different simulations. more

At A Glance

Keonn RFID. A high-end Italian retailer is deploying Keonn’s loss-prevention systems in its flagship stores to keep entrances clear and unobstructed.

The project is being deployed by our partner Solos, a specialist in identification, traceability, protection and anti-theft solutions.

According to the characteristics of each store, the best loss-prevention system has been selected between AdvanSafe-200, AdvanMat-300, and AdvanGate. The stores also have an AdvanPay-160 that deactivates and detaches the RFID hard tags at the same time.

All the installations have the systems hidden either on the floor, the ceiling, or the walls, so the entrance is completely unobstructed and the aesthetics of the store is greatly improved.

Erwin. Salesforce recently released the State of the Connected Customer report, with 75 percent of customers saying they expect companies to use new technologies to create better experiences. So the business and digital transformation playbook has to be updated.

These efforts must be carried out with continuous improvement in mind. Today’s constantly evolving business environment totally reinforces the old adage that change is the only constant. more
